The idea behind the "New Links" section is useful -- it emphasizes new or frequently used content, making it easier to access. Unfortunatey, its design hampers its potential. Specifically:
- Its position at the top of the screen pushes core content down below the fold.
- There's no grouping of items.
- The highlighting convention (red, bold text) is confusing.
With just a few items, this design becomes unweildy. An improved layout could make featured content more attractive and easier to navigate, even when the list is longer.
